Terry Roberts reports in the Saturday running of the Telegram:

The coming months will be crucial in the development of the Lower Churchill hydroelectric project as attempts to firm up a customer base, come up with financing and settle on a transmission route are intensified, Hydro CEO Ed Martin stated this week.

The province has been lobbying for a loan guarantee from the federal government, but a firm commitment, despite a vague election promise from Prime Minister Stephen Harper, remains elusive.
This will probably come as a surprise to the federal government, esp. the departments of Natural Resources and Finance, which would be the most likely targets of this "lobbying".

It would be interesting — really, really interesting — really, really, really, ATIP, cough, interesting — to see what activities, exactly, have been undertaken as part of this almost entirely imaginary "lobby" effort.

It would be nice, too, to have a provincial government that viewed itself as a government, and its role as governing, instead of a mere lobby that lobbies.
