Fact-check
A throw-away line ends today's CBC news piece about the campaign in Torngat Mountains:
The Liberals have held the district since 1979.
Not quite. As CBC's election desk district profile correctly points out, the late Garfield Warren held the seat as a PC member, after crossing the floor, for nearly a decade.

Those were the days. I did not agree with Garfield crossing the floor, nor any one else for that matter. But credit where due, during his time with the PC government Garfield moved things along at that time, he did way more than any other MHA [with the big picture in mind] in this district before or since.
"moved things along"
what does that mean?
How'd the Garfplex or caribou plant work out? ;)
“Move things along” i.e. on a go forward basis.
Of course you rabid partisan policy wonks living hundreds of miles away would know better than I.
That is a pretty low blow Wally. May I call you Wally? Todd does.
I was not aware that Garfield was part of the design and engineer team on any project in the riding.
FYI, the spots plex is still going gang busters by the way.

Wonk, sure. Rapid partisan? Noop.
That is a pretty low blow Wally.
No, it's a fair comment. And, for the record, I always had a bit of a soft spot for Garf.

Weren't there some structural problems showing up a couple years back, though, à la the caribou plant?
I said rabid not rapid :-]
Garf may have played a role in fundraising but certain sin city engineers and contractors, plus compliant locals, played the role in those disasters, the high school as well.
Sporsplex had extensive “remedial work”, as did the high school, so both are operational.
The tide took care of the caribou plant, go figure that one out.
