Hurdle jumping
From the Ministry of Truth, which is stretching out the obligatory year-ender like crazy:
Lots of Hurdles to Jump on Lower Churchill: Premier WilliamsMkay.... the fabulous — in the original sense of the word, cognate with "fable" — Labrador aluminum smelter is going ahead (where? which port? who will pay the icebreaking bill?), but the equally fabulous — really, look it up in the Oxford — Lower Churchill is "not a definite"?
January 2, 2008
Premier Danny Williams says the Lower Churchill is not a definite . He says there are a lot of hurdles to jump, and they will be a major focus of government over the coming year. But he says on the other hand there are some really exciting projects in the works, including the anticipated signing of the Hebron agreement in the near future, a possible oil refinery in Placentia, an aluminum smelter in Labrador and the hydromet facility in Long Harbour.
Riiiiiight. Where have we seen this film before?
And isn't that hydromet facility in Long Harbour the product of that horrible, nefarious, Voisey's Bay agreement signed by the previous government — you know, the deal with loopholes "you can drive a Mac truck through"?
And will that Hebron agreement, just like the said nefarious Voisey's Bay deal, be made public by Mr. Accountability?
