De-fanged

For the record, the warm Newfoundland hospitality that Fearless Leader so eloquently blurbled when the Prime Minister of Canada (the Politician Formerly Known as Steeeve) toured storm-damaged areas in Dannystan three years ago:
Well, y’know, I, y’know, any time, y’know, a leader and the leader of the country, y’know, comes in to have a look at things first hand, I, y’know, I’m pleased he’s done that, but, y’know, he’s done it two days after the fact, he never even gave us the courtesy, y’know, and not only me personally, but this is about the people of Newfoundland and Labrador, the courtesy of a phone call over the last 72 hours while all this was happening, to say don’t worry, we’ll be there, and we’ll work with the provincial and the municipal governments to get this done, so, y’know, he comes in on his own, and does it on his own, because, y’know, I and my ministers certainly would have met him at the site, and pointed out to him what we saw when the rivers were raging, quite frankly, right, everything’s pretty well settled down now, and some of the road damage has already been repaired in order to allow, y’know, the transportation links to be back, but anyway, y’know, he does things in his own way, and so be it.

I did see his-self say that he would welcome some of the federal sea kings to augment the provincial chopper fleet.

Question for Wally: How many choppers are in the provincial chopper fleet cause I cant seem to find them in my search.

WANTED : 1 Sikorsky CH-54 (Tarhe) to pick up and carry off , the biggest EGO , that of Danny Williams .

This man is the biggest obstacle to the very existence of this province and its people .

Do we exist as a people just to prop him up ?

Depends on what you mean by provincial fleet, Brian.

Hydro owns a couple of a/c in Labrador. I think they have a 205 and a 206. Other than that, everything is chartered.

In an emergency, they can contract any available a/c including importing a/c from anywhere on the planet.

I was struck by the reference to a night flying requirement. It isn't clear what that means an why they needed the Sea Kings when they have access to other assets with night-time capability. For medevac they can easily get hold of 103 aircraft, for example as they would any time.

It isn't clear what they are talking about there. I suspect it is just BS since they also took the ships as well. The a/c don't need the ships and 423 could have just as easily ferried over a/c from Shearwater along with the ground crews and operated them from land bases if all they wanted was aircraft.

As it is, they are getting way more needed capability that I suspect they just don't want to acknowledge - like the fresh water-making capability of the FFHs.
