There is at least one link connecting the Synard and Rideout stories: both deal with the Tories' problems in rural NL. These problems may not be as newsworthy for the Telegram as the looming closure of Autie Crae's, or the arrival of big box-stores in CBS, but they aren't going away anytime soon.
It will be interesting to see how such stories get covered (and spun by the parties) when the election campaigns officially begin in 2011.
