The division has grown substantially over the last few years, and while business people and economists worry that current spending levels are unsustainable, the province's largest public sector union disagrees. NAPE President Carol Furlong says government is doing as it should, and that the St. John's Board of Trade has no business saying otherwise. Furlong says the Board of Trade opposes increases to the minimum wage and public sector salaries, and that government's decision to expand public services is "simply putting back what was taken out."
