Something's still fishy
Again, what is the matter with the fishery that a strong dose of good ol' "joint management" wouldn't solve?
If there is anything that "joint management" is the cure for... why isn't the doctor prescribing it (or the patient demanding a prescription)?
Bonus points: where and when has Chairman Dan actually spoken in favour of "joint management"?

Wally asked:
"where and when has Chairman Dan actually spoken in favour of "joint management"?
May 8, 2003.
He, along with every other member of the House of Assembly voted for it on
May 14, 2003.
I wish I could answer your main question:
" why isn't the doctor prescribing it (or the patient demanding a prescription)?"
I can only say that it's unfortunate to see the premier ignore his party's own policy on the subject, the policy of just about every previous provincial government of whichever stripe, going back to the 1970s, the Royal Commission on our place in Canada, The Harris Report, some legislative committee reports, and, I suspect, the will of the people of NL.
It's especially sad when there is, for the first time that I know of, a government in Ottawa that has as one of its policies, a willingness to sign-on for Joint Management ala the
2003 White Paper.
Sad stuff.
Thanks for the links. I haven't been able to find much in Glorious Leader's public pronouncements on the subject since he became Glorious Leader.
It's also conspicuously absent from his 2006 election wish-list.
Did Harper call Danny's bluff by promising it, to the extent that he did promise it?
Or is Danny holding out until there's a fishery with no attendant public costs before asking to jointly manage it?
Joint management means having a clip or that little pair of tweezers from a Swiss Army knife handy when that burning red glow is just about down to the filter.
Pass the Doritos. Or the caplin.
The provincial government, according to what I've heard from Trevor Taylor and now Tom Rideout, is not negotiating on the matter. More's the pity.
He, along with every other member of the House of Assembly voted for it on May 14, 2003.
Actually, I have since found that Danny was not in the House that day.
I have still not been able to find a public pronouncement from Danny Williams where he specifically says he is in favour of, or wants, joint management.
