Newfoundland and Newfoundland

Once again, DannyWilliamsAdministrationNewfoundlandLabrador "considers geographical representation". Today we learn of a board to the Newfoundland and... something Arts Council:

A Corner Brook poet/editor is the latest appointment to the board of the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council (NLAC).

The Honourable Tom Hedderson, Tourism, Culture and Recreation Minister, announced the appointment of Randall Maggs (literary arts) today...

Other members of the NLAC board include: John Doyle, St. John’s (film); Charlotte Jones, Corner Brook (visual arts); Margaret Best, St. John’s (visual arts); Carmelita McGrath, St. John’s, (literary arts); Mara Noftall, St. John’s (dance); Kim Wiseman, Gander (music); Mary Walsh, St. John’s (theatre); Brent Meade (government representative) and Eleanor Dawson (government representative).
Of course, the provincial Tories have always been very sensitive to the need to "consider geographical representation". As Paul Shelley said of Marine Atlantic board appointments in 2000:

Shelley said he's calling on the federal government to immediately revamp the manner in which people are appointed to the Marine Atlantic board and ensure that all appointments to the board are Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who understand the Gulf ferry service.
They were very pleased when Roger Grimes' Blame Canada Commission said:

We have had very sporadic representation on major federal boards and agencies…The time has also come to have a more proactive policy of better representing all provinces and territories of Canada in the federal administration. This could include more extensive use of executive interchange and recruitment at all levels from a broad geographic pool.
And, of course, Danny Williams himself is very, very, very sensitive to the need to do in respect of Labrador what the province demands of Ottawa:
It's high time that Labradorians, instead of feeling like someone else's treasure trove, started feeling like an integral part of our province. We cannot expect fair treatment from Ottawa if we don't practise what we preach.
Just not quite sensitive enough to, you know, practise what he preaches.
