Opposition Syndrome

From the annals of Dannystan political history:

(Click to embiggen.)

The saturated-colour bars are party leaders who were elected Premier in their own right.

The pale-coloured bars are party leaders who stayed in opposition, at least as leader.

(The middle shades are the party leaders who served as Premiers heading pallbearer governments.)

The pattern is pretty clear: opposition parties eat their leaders alive, for decades at a stretch.

The question for the Dannystan Liberal Party tonight is: Is John Efford or Danny Dumaresque the one to break that historical pattern?
