Sycophant of the Month: March 2008

Well, that was one of the most exciting months of the tournament so far!

It didn’t start out too promising, though. The unstoppable Joan Burke racked up three quick points in the first week, scoring on March 3rd, 4th, and 6th. The umpires pondered the rule book.

Then, Dianne Whalen started doling out more Highways Happiness, getting on the board on the 7th and 10th, coming within a point of the tie.

But that just made Burke hungrier, and she scored another three in a row on the 12th, 13th, and 19th.

Patty Pottle and Tom Rideout got up on the big board in the third week.

Then Whalen sandwiched Tom Marshall and his sole point with two more of her own, pulling back to within two of Burke.

But Burke was having none of that, scoring two insurance goals to seal the deal. Whalen finished the month on an uptick, but that singleton was merely academic at that point.

Final score: Joan Burke, 8 Williams Governments; Dianne Whalen, 5; Patty Pottle, Tom Marshall, Tom Rideout, 1 apiece.

Match summary:

Total number of ProvGov press releases issued in March 2008: 165 (+27 from February)

Total number with the phrase "Williams Government": 16 (+11)

Sycophancy index: 9.7% (+6.1%)

For the seventh month running, and the eighth time in the past ten months, Joan Burke is your Sycophant of the Month. Congratulations, Joan!
