Taxing the innumerate (II)
The comments on this Telegram story concerning last night's Lotto 6/49 jackpot wins were entirely predictable:
sandy from nl writes: Grand Prize winners are mostly always from Ontario and Quebec, so what's new. Every now and then the Grand Prize will go to WESTERN Canada.Rather than re-write the wheel, gentle reader, just go re-read this. Thank you.
jamie fitzpatrick from St.John's, NL writes: atlantic lottery corp........hahaha why do it always go to the QUEBEC-QWAAAA FRENCH CANADA....OH SO ASHAMED
j f from nl writes: i seldom buy lottery tickets and this is just another confirmation of why...reason has it that because there are more people in ont.; more prizes will go there. if this is true, then more prizes should be awarded outside of ont...given that more people in the country reside outside of there. the lottery ridiculous!

Thanks WJM for providing the insight. Here I was thinking that I didn't win last night's big draw because I picked the wrong numbers. Now I know it's because somehow those lottery people figured out that it was a Newfoundlander living in Ontario that bought the ticket. Next time, I'll ask one on my Ontarian friends to pick one up on my behalf.
That will show em...
