Local Minister... likes democracy

Just when you think The Party has absolutely plumbed the depths of Stalinesque language... off it goes and finds yet another corner of the Sea of Dannystan just out of soundings.

Creepy.

Wow. Encouraging people to run for municipal councils. How sinister can you get!

Perhaps, Peter, you are so utterly oblivious that you have missed the constant, incessant, and downright vicious assaults on democracy, at the federal and provincial levels, that have been the calling cards of the Dannystan regime lo these past five years and a bit.

In that context, suddenly claiming that our democratic process — at least at the municipal level — is now "treasured" is, yes, "sinister" (your word) or "Stalinesque" (mine).

As clever as it is. it appears you are starting to believe your own hyperbole. Read up on Stalin a little, just for fun. Whalen's release is ironic, perhaps, but Stalinesque? Why not Hitleresque?

Read Stalin, a little, just for fun.

The language and rhetoric of the Dannystan Regime is that of one-party absolutists everywhere.

Would you prefer Enver Hoxha? or a nice mild Duplessis?

I won't pretend I've heard of Hoxha. Duplessis is a little more palatable, but it doesn't fit your Soviet Bloc theme.

You haven't been paying attention. My theme — more like a motif — is much broader than merely "Soviet Bloc".
