All eyes on Terra Nova

Ok, maybe not all eyes. But for those eyes that are, this is where they should go for by-election numbers:

Results should start coming in in about 45 minutes.

In rough numbers, the Liberals got 38 per cent of the vote to the DW Party's 55 per cent. That's an interesting contrast to the numbers in the CRA poll the other day, which pegged the DW Party at nearly 80 per cent provincially.

I don't doubt the numbers in the CRA survey, but it would be nice to have a breakdown of how many were rural versus urban respondents. A separate poll for each would be nice.

I think tonight's byelection result also supports the argument that most undecided respondents are unlikley to support the government. If you can't decide whether you like the DW government after seeing it in power for six years, you're probably not inclined to support it in an election.

I meant to add that 24 per cent, which is the number of undecided respondents in the CRA survey, is a large number.

You also have to wonder: in a province where Big Danny Is Watching You... is there not the possibility that some people, when phoned up by a random stranger who starts quizzing them about politics, are not quite as forthcoming with their true opinions as they might be in places where the political culture isn't completely nuts?
