Rapid Reaction Battalion

In response to recent episodes of scumbaggishness, Kathy Dunderdale-Government lets it be known that a highlight of the spring session of the legislature — whenever that's supposed to be — will be new provincial animal protection legislation:
"We have been reviewing our existing six live animal statutes and consulting with special interest groups on the consolidation of these acts into a new, modern and tougher Animal Health and Protection Act," said the Honourable Kathy Dunderdale, Minister of Natural Resources and Minister Responsible for the Forestry and Agrifoods Agency. "We are now ready to bring forward an all encompassing piece of legislation for debate that will address concerns and issues raised over cruelty to animals in this province and stiffer penalties for such behavior."
Huzzah!

Curiously, though, there is still no sign of the review of existing legislation, the consultation with special interest groups, and the bringing forward of an all-encompassing piece of legislation for debate that will address concerns and issues with regard to government whistle-blowing.

That legislative "piece" was promised, back in the Danny Williams-Government era, in 2007... not long before the Grenfell autonomy legislative "piece" was delayed because, well, you think it's easy to make legislations?

In the meantime, perhaps would-be whistle-blowers can do the same thing Kathy Dunderdale-Government suggested today you do in the case of suspected animal cruelty or abuse:

Call Crimestoppers.
