Just a little ahead of themselves

A typical nomination result announcement from the Dunderdale2011s:

"Buckingham to represent St. John's East"? To whom? In what?

Back in the old days, only members, in their member's capacity, represented districts. If you have been nominated to run for a party in a district, you represent the party in the district — not the district itself.

To give credit, where it's due, contrast the ego-laded, presumptuous Dunderdale2011 language with the Liberal counterpart:

My district. Just for that I want to run here.

More interesting is that they delayed the nomination of a solid incumbent for so long. This should have been one of the first nominations they settled.

Guess the talk inside the Tory circles about people who wanted Ed's seat were true. The opportunists initially wanted to oust Ed because he resisted Kathy's love affair with Harper. Ultimately they appear to have given up. Wonder if it had anything to do with the public rejection of Dunderdale's poor political judgment?
