Uncommon look and feel

A most interesting pattern emerges in canvassing the local community papers (and the Western Star) for PC candidates' campaign advertising.

First off, there are about 10 PC candidates who seem to have eschewed newspaper advertising altogether, unless they have ads planted in editions that have just gone to press for distribution on Sunday or Monday.

Second, most of them use two graphical elements from the provincial party campaign's bag of goodies, the "NewEnergy" logo, and the bizarre attempt to rebrand the party as "DUNDERDALE2011".

Chosen entirely at random, here's a fairly typical example from Wally Young:

Yours truly has found eighteen PC candidates who have placed ads in the last week which dutifully include the "DUNDERDALE2011" branding.

But on the other hand... then there's these guys.

Dr Darin King to you:

Tracey Perry (who does use "NewEnergy"):

Felix Collins (ditto):

Kevin Pollard and friends:

And our favourite Kevin... who not only eschews the new DUNDERDALE2011 brand, but the old "PC Party" brand as well:

So... sup with that?

(Also, where have all the moustaches gone?)

I must have missed it when the other parties re-branded themselves AYLWARD2011 or MICHAELS2011 for their candidates to then leave off their ads.

That's what's up with that.

Did we even have FB IN 2003? Maybe "Fairity" plans to switch after he loses leadership poll in 2014? Generic signs are recyclable? So many questions.
