What cult?
So far the week:
The Williams Government announced today it has renewed contracts with Labrador Marine Inc. for operation of marine vessels the Sir Robert Bond and the Northern Ranger.
In addition to investing in ferry construction, in Budget 2007 the Williams Government injected $10.3 million for refits of government-owned ferry vessels and $5 million for maintenance and capital construction of terminals and wharfs.
Since 2004, the Williams Government has increased funding to literacy programming by over $1.5 million for a total of approximately $24 million.
3 Comments:
“The contract for the Sir Robert Bond, which services Lewisporte, Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Cartwright, has been extended for two years, while the contract for the Northern Ranger, which runs from Happy Valley-Goose Bay to Nain, has been extended for one year. Both contracts include management of freight and administrative services”.
We wish, no insult to Cartwright and Black Tickle intended.
"The contracts we are announcing today are evidence of this government’s dedication to those who rely on our provincial ferry fleet, in this case, many of them Labradorians," said Minister Whalen. "We have had an extremely successful partnership with Labrador Marine Inc. for years and are pleased to see it continue."
Some vigorous arguments would/have been offered on that statement.

There you go. Another example, though not nearly as good as DannyWilliamsAdministrationNewfoundlandLabrador.
"Williams Government" is on track to be found in fully 10% of the press releases that the provincial government issues this year, and that's even after diluting with workaday announcements like EIA processes, press conference advisories, releases by arms-length (snicker) bodies like Elections NL, and gas price changes (although I'd be willing to bet that when prices start ratcheting down again, Williams Government would be tempted to take credit.)
It's a personality cult, Stephen, one of a nature and degree that we haven't seen since Smallwood. In fact, I think Danny's already blown Joey out of the water in the personality-cult department.
