L'esprit de l'escalier

Oscar Wilde: I wish I'd said that!

James Whistler: You will, Oscar, you will.
Brian Jones tackles the Throne-like Speech-like thingie:
Such prose creates an image of Aldous Huxley with the pink, white and green draped over his shoulders as he taps away at a typewriter, reworking his classic novel into "Brave New Williams."

“If outsiders - mainlanders, the federal government, foreigners, etc. - have been to blame for taking away Newfoundland's riches, then who, exactly, was doing the giving away?”

Ah, Mr. Jones, a couple of my favourites all in one sentence! One a peeve and on a long asked question.
‘outsiders – mainlanders, the federal government foreigners, etc… Labradorians certainly do feel like outsiders – mainlanders, in spite of the (now) long ago promise that we should not ‘feel like someone else’s treasure trove…’
I have long wondered (rhetorically) ‘who, exactly, was doing the giving away?’ …. Well, we outsiders
– mainlanders (Labradorians) know who is doing the taking away in our own case.
