South, west, under the ocean
Another glimpse into the alternative universe that is the imaginary Lower Churchill project, this time from CBC's coverage of Our Dear Speech:
Williams said it's better to adopt a "buy Canada" policy when it comes to energy. He expressed support for an east-west-north-south energy grid that would freely cross all provincial borders and could carry Lower Churchill power to the markets of central Canada.Yes, indeed.
An east-west-north-south energy grid that would cross provincial borders.
One that would burrow itself under the Strait of Belle Isle to bring power from Labrador to The Province.
One that could carry Lower Churchill power to the markets of central Canada.
One that would, in fact, make power from Labrador available to almost everwhere in eastern Canada except for Labrador itself.
So, while ODP imagines his east-west-north-south energy grid — and hey, everyone needs a hobby; there are grown men with basements full of model trains — his imaginary grid doesn't go north from Gull Island to Nain or Voisey's Bay, or east to Cartwright, or south to L'anse au Loup.
PS: How do you square the sudden support for "buy Canada" with years of futile attempts to "sell American"?
