"Foreign" fisheries ownership
Another fish plant has been sold to a company from outside the province.
There has been no hysteria in the media.
No histrionics from the NewfNat bloggers.
No outrage on the open lines or the Fishcast.
No sky-is-falling rhetoric from the anti-capitalist Captain of Industry up on the Eighth Floor.
And why not?
Perhaps because the plant is in Quebec. And the new owners are from Newfoundland.
After operating the Marinard plant in La Tabatière for most of a decade, Daley Brothers have bought it outright. This is on top of the plant they already have a majority stake in in Baie-Trinité, and the one they own in St. Paul's River.
