Transparency!

The latest issue of the Newfoundland and Labrador Gazette, the official government publication where statutory and regulatory instruments and notices are promulgated, is Vol. 82, No. 36, September 7, 2007.

The latest issue of the Newfoundland and Labrador Gazette to be posted to the Transparency Government's website is from July.

The Transparency Government will let you peek, more than a month late, but you are not allowed to print the Newfoundland and Labrador Gazette from your own computer:
The Newfoundland and Labrador Gazette is published from the office of Earl G. Tucker, Queen's Printer. The FREE Issues published here are in a secure Acrobat format. They can be downloaded and viewed but can not be printed or altered.
The latest edition of the Canada Gazette on-line, which you are allowed to print, is September 10.

The latest edition of the Nova Scotia Royal Gazette on-line, which you are allowed to print, is August 31.

The latest edition of the Prince Edward Island Royal Gazette on-line, which you are allowed to print, is September 8.

The latest edition of the New Brunswick Royal Gazette on-line, which you are allowed to print, is September 12. That's yesterday, if you're still paying attention.

The latest edition of La Gazette officielle du Québec on-line, which you are allowed to print, is September 8.

The latest edition of the Ontario Gazette on-line, which you are allowed to print, is also September 8.

The latest edition of the Saskatchewan Gazette on-line, which you are allowed to print, is September 7.

The latest edition of the Alberta Gazette on-line, which you are allowed to print, is August 31.

The latest edition of the Yukon Gazette on-line, which you are allowed to print, is August 15.

The latest edition of the Nunavut Gazette on-line, which you are allowed to print, is August 24.

Only the NWT, Manitoba, and British Columbia seem to not have their Gazettes on-line at all.

We are sorry, Sir, We are just not going to follow what the Government of Canada does. We are going to stand on our own and (inaudible).

Even if that means ranking 11th out of 14 Canadian jurisdictions in terms of providing public access to the government's official statutory and regulatory publication.
