The tail end

But, y’know, when Eastern Health comes out on, late on, Idon’tknowwhattimeitwas, late on a Friday afternoon, and puts a heading out that’s misleading with regard to the real content of what the release is all about, and then says there’s nobody there to comment on it, it’s disgraceful, they should be shot over that… It’s not something that you on the tail end of a Friday afternoon, with nobody ready to stand up and answer the questions…
The Word of Our Dan. (May His Preternaturally Thick Hair Always Be Perfectly Parted.)

Of course, announcing government appointments or unloading potential bags of flaming fiscal poo at 4:00 on a Friday afternoon, or ticking resource time bombs at 4:05 on a Friday afternoon, or differently-positive transportation news at 4:55 on a Friday evening, or responses to stinking festering messes at 5:05 on a Friday evening, or insufficiently happy environmental news at 5:45 on a Friday evening, or the closure of things (on a go-forward basis) at 6:10 on a Friday evening, or a second dose of water chlorination news at 9:15 on a Friday night, those sorts of things are in no way at all like what Eastern Health did last Friday, no matter how early their press release may have been sent out. Totally different. Totally different.

Nor is there anything at all misleading with regard to the real content of what the release is all about in the Friday, 4:00 p.m., headline “Minister Affirms Province’s Support for Academic Freedom”, nor in the 6:40 p.m. headline, “Premier stands by commitment that Powley decision applies to Section 35 Métis in the province

Nothing could be further from the truth. Besides which, that Métis release was on a Thursday. A THURSDAY.

Totally different.

And there is nothing at all to be read into the penchant of some departments to issue press releases on Christmas Eve, especially about appointments. Besides which, they issued them in the morning. THE MORNING.

Totally different, totally different.

No one in Confederation Building ever tries to bury bad news through creative timing.

No one in Danny Williams-Government ever torques a headline.

No one should be shot.

WJM,

I suspect that it won't be too long before a "set the record straight" directive gets sent through the pneumatic tubes.

After that, we'll likely see another round of redactions.

It will be interesting to see how many of the links in your post suddenly develop technical malfunctions.
