But (XX)
Excerpts from a letter which appeared in Monday's print edition of the Northern Pen, underlining added:
My Dear Premier,And on and on for another 1000 words or so, including:
Again, a callous, thoughtless move on the part of your government has set health care in this Province back a far pace.
I would have thought your recent threats to move services from Lewisporte and Flower's Cove, and the lessons that you should have lenred from your sabre rattling at that time would have wizened you and your 'all-powerful' government so that there would be no more scare tactics against the good people of the rest of Newfoundland and Labrador. Awaken, my friend, there is much more to Newfoundland & Labrador than your adopted city.
Let me strongly suggest that the popuularity of the Williams government will pay dearly for this extremely unfair move [i.e., the move of the air ambulance base from St. Anthony to Goose Bay.] My confidence in your government and its policies, as with many Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, took a dive when you childishly threatened the very existence of the medical services of Lewisporte and Flower's Cove.
[Etc., etc.]
Thanking you for your attention,
I remain yours truly,
Herbert W. Tucker
(A strong supporter of your government)
